ARTISANworks is the 14-year-old child of Kim and Louis. As any parents would say, they have no idea what they would get themselves into. Every child has their own personality and it’s up to the parents to help the child realize its fullest potential. Children naturally take after their parents, imitating the good, bad, and ugly. They are like a sponge that wants to absorb everything in their environment.

Luckily for ARTISANworks, Louis and Kim each have character that enriches its growth. Kim is like a hot bowl of soup on a cold winter day. She is warm, calm, and centered. One moment in her presence and all is well with the world. She can step back and see the bigger picture to bring serenity to the present moment. This makes Louis the perfect compliment for Kim. Louis is like a glass of ice-cold water on a hot summer day. He is energetic, enthusiastic, and refreshing to be around.  He is a ball of energy that goes with the wind. He’s intelligent and innovative with a thousand ideas running through his mind at a time.

Together, they navigate this journey. They know what they want for ARTISANworks but how it would be accomplished is a work in progress. Kim and Louis both have a passion for the art that they want to share with the world. Like any good parents, they want to share their child’s gift with the community to enrich it.

ARTISANworks has the natural ability of bringing everyone together but its her parents who create a space to let her shine. There could be a local artist's painting right next to a Picasso. She doesn't discriminate but she embraces each person's gifts and talents. Art is not limited to a price tag but a person's own subjectivity.

Louis and Kim don't want to limit it to people who studies or collects art. They simply want to share creativity with anyone who is willing to slow down enough to see and reflect on their own interpretation of beauty. To appreciate art is to look within oneself and see if a particular painting, sculpture, or display, triggers some emotional responses.

These responses usually have an effect or two on a person. It could simply bring a smile to them, leave a longing to share it with their friends or family, inspire people to move in their own creativity, buy a painting, or purchase a membership to the gallery. Art is never done, but it always continues to inspire if you let it. That’s exactly what happens to one of its patrons that make way for ARTISANworks’ growth.

A particular patron wants to have a birthday party there and they bring in their own band and use ARTISANworksas a backdrop. Louis and Kim see a side of ARTISANworks they haven’t seen. They want to tap into this because she has so much more potential then they have initially realized. This opens door for parties and events to be held at their place.

As ARTISANworks grows, people want to be her friends and be involved in her life. Kim and Louis don't turn these people away but take them in as their own children, teaching them the necessary skills to thrive and flourish in a world that is very challenging at times.  They want to be a platform to help people realize their fullest potential as they do with ARTISANworks. They would teach people how to start and manage their own start up.  Kim and Louis would teach them how to get their DBA, manage taxes, accounting, and everything they needed to know to run a successful business.

Running a successful business is in some ways similar to raising a child. The journey is unknown and as much as a person can plan for their business or child, life is thrown at them. It’s a lot of trials and errors. ARTISANworks has grown so much in the last 14 years and it has taken Kim and Louis to places that they never expected. However, to see your child thrive and flourish is something that any parent would be proud of. This is not the end but only the beginning of a movement for Kim and Louis. With one child under their belt, they hope to raise other children like ARTISANworks in other cities to revamp and change the city through the arts.
